Presentation 1 Feedback:
Presentation that needed improvement:
I thought Kelsey Wilson needed to improve her presentation on Lorna Simpson. Kelsey did talk about the photographer’s background, but she did not mention what influenced Lorna Simpson’s work. When Kelsey presented the photographs, she read the words from the picture, and did not mention much else; she barely elaborated on what the pictures meant and how the pictures made her feel. It was hard for me to connect with Lorna Simpson’s work because Kelsey did not show much emotion or an attachment to the photographs that were presented. To me, it seemed that not a lot of research was done on the artist. At the end of the presentation, I did not feel that I had learned much about Lorna Simpson.
Favorite presentation:
I thought Levi Moore did a fantastic job on presenting about Sam Taylor-Wood. It was evident that Levi did a substantial amount of research on the photographer because every single picture and video clip had an in-depth explanation. Levi talked about Sam Taylor-Wood’s inspiration behind each picture, and he added comments about his personal opinion or interpretation for the content. I thought it was also impressive that Levi took the time to watch a multitude of different videos and make short clips out of each one to save time during the presentation; this allowed him to over more content. During the presentation, I was always interested, curious, or able to connect to the photographer’s work on an emotional level, and I think it had a lot to do with how Levi presented the information.
